Author of the Week: Nicole Martin


Q & A with Nicole Martin
A&RBC: How did you become a writer? 
Nicole: I became a writer pretty much by having a love for the English language, reading and letting my imagination run wild and then pretty much putting my thoughts together and taking a dive for it! :)
A&RBC: Where does your inspiration for your characters come from?
Nicole: My inspiration for characters come from real life events and situations. I believe in giving my readers a sense of reality in my novels.
A&RBC: What are you hoping readers take from your book?
Nicole: My goal is for readers to let their imigination flow with the characters. There is a message in all the novels I write and I hope that the reader gets them and carries it with them.
A&RBC: If you were to write a book about a controversial topic, what would it be?
Nicole: It would be about Addiction, most people equate addiction solely with using drugs and there are so many different types of addiction that exist.
A&RBC: Most writers have a process or method for writing their books, what is yours?
Nicole: Mines is to 1st research the information I want to write on. I meditate on stories for awhile before I actually start them. I put together my characters whole descriptions, personalities, everything and name them before hand.
A&RBC: What is your favorite genre of books?
Nicole: Urban Fiction
A&RBC: Are you an avid or occasional reader?
Nicole: I am a avid reader. I believe in supporting other authors and enjoy reading as much as i do writing.
A&RBC: What are two things you want your readers to know about you?
Nicole: I am very socialable. I value and appreciate all feedback and reviews, I check them daily.
A&RBC: If you could interview one of your favorite authors, who would it be? Why?
Nicole: It would be probably be Zane because she has a very wide imagination and I would want to know where does her topics, characters come from because it always seems like she is very experienced and knowledgeable about what she writes. She is very inspirational and she and Terry McMillan are two of my favorite authors.
A&RBC: What is or was your dream job?
Nicole: To become a well known author.. As in the words of one of "Beyonce's songs", for the world to know that "I was here". :)
A&RBC: What new projects are you working on?
Nicole: I am working on two different projects, the sequel to my 1st novel "Loving An Addict" which did very well and I am also researching some information about a thriller/suspense novel that I want to write.
