Carl Weber and Eric Pete deliver a thrilling underworld drama in The Family Business L.C. Duncan, patriarch of the family, is at the age when he’s starting to think about retirement in sunny Florida. But the recession is taking a bite out of the business and, worrying more, he has to decide which of his children should take over. When his workaholic son Orlando gets the nod, Orlando’s siblings—including the favorite son Vegas, conniving daughter London, glamorous party girl Paris and flamboyant nightclub owner Rio—are up in arms. But so are the Zunigas, a rival family whose fragile business alliance with the Duncans may explode at any moment. When Vegas suddenly breaks away from the family, London’s lawyer husband, Harris, makes a play for the company and all hell breaks loose. Selling cars, it turns out, is only a small part of the Duncans’ family business. Each member of the family has a secret expertise to reveal. And now, under siege from the Mafia, Mexican drug cartels and the Zunigas, the Duncans will have to stick together—or die separately!

Couples therapy is about family, forgiveness, and faith. We can do all things through Christ and these four couples faith will be tested. The author does a wonderful job including issues and problems married couples are dealing with every day. This will help readers relate to the characters and will have them feeling every emotion these couples go through. After reading Couples Therapy, I am so glad my husband and I attending therapy before we got married to prevent ending in therapy after being married. Once again, Michelle Larks has written a compelling book that many can appreciate. I recommend this book to others.

About The Author

Ms. Thomas is a dynamic story-teller with three romantic and dramatic novels to her credit, she distinguishes herself from the genre popular among women by refusing to lace her work with profanity and sexually-explicit themes for the sake of notoriety and book sales.

Nevertheless, her first two novels "Color Me Jazzmyne" (2010) and "My Father's Colors" (2011), both reached the Top 100 on Amazon.com's Rhythm and Blues and Soul best-sellers list. "My Father's Colors" was a finalist pick during the 2011 USA Best Book Awards.

Ms. Thomas's books probe the ever-intriguing themes of race, family strife, love, teen pregnancy, friendship and abuse. And yet, her tales which seem to pre-sage current tabloid headlines are spelled out in ways that suit delicate moral tastes. As a motivational and inspirational speaker, Marian delivers an engaging seminar and workshop titled: Publish Yourself First: Become a “Plan A” Author.

In March 2011, she taught this workshop to the Destiny's Daughters of Promise. Here is what they had to say: "We are honored that you took time to do a presentation for Destiny's Daughters of Promise. The information you presented was timely and relevant and it will help us prepare these teens for a successful future. Thank you for helping us in our endeavor to bring about a positive change in the lives of these girls."

What A&RBC Reviews is saying about Strings of Color....

Strings of Color by Marian L. Thomas reintroduces readers to four women linked by the lies, betrayal and secrets of their past. Simone is a talented woman struggling to give her heart to the man of her dreams. Simone also struggles with building a relationship with a mother who has never been in her life. Misty is trying to reclaim the life she let her ego destroy. When Misty discovers some unsuspected information about her past she will have to make a decision that will change her life.

Naya is grieving the loss of her husband while trying to stay strong enough to keep living. Naya receives an uninvited visitor and suddenly has to confront her past head on. Mona knows she is far from being a saint but needs to make amends. Mona finds a unique way to clean out the skeletons in her closet because she realizes the decisions she made in the past would soon come back to bite. Will Mona be prepared for responses?

Strings of Color is a book that reveals family secrets. From the first page until the last readers will be struck with overwhelming emotions. This book has well-developed characters that complement the storyline. It is consistent with the previous books in the series giving readers different views of this family's life. I was thrilled with this book as well as the previous two books in this series. This author has a unique writing style that makes her a wonderful storyteller. I cannot wait until the next book is available. I recommend this book to others.

Book Spotlight: Grand Hustle

Purchase at Amazon.com
About the Book

Jessica N. Watkins takes us on a passion-filled ride as she returns with the sixth volume of the infamous Femistry novels, Grand Hustle- I shall not want. In this raunchy romantic soap opera–style tale of promiscuity and corruption, Jessica continues the saga of the leading ladies of Femistry with the usual humor, drama, and romance- Yet with an ending that will leave you breathless. The only thing on nineteen-year-old Star Anderson’s mind is taking care of her son by any means necessary. However, by means of breaking her back at a minimum wage nine-to-five is not an option. Therefore, she follows in the footsteps of her good friend, Roxie, down a path of scams, escorting, and set ups. Though this path seems to be paved with fast and easy money, tragedy strikes when plans become messy.
Star’s big sister, Tricey, attempts to clean up Star’s mess while fighting with her new beau. He suddenly wants her to skip town with him with no explanation. Though she is deeply concerned about her boyfriend wanting to abruptly leave, Tricey is so focused on rescuing Star that being a love sick puppy and following him out of state is not an option.
However, Lyric doesn’t mind being love sick. She and her boyfriend, James, are knee-deep in love and in the “lifestyle”. As members of Black Swinger’s Club, James and Lyric’s relationship is full of excitement, raunchiness, and spontaneity. Yet, once James settles into the lifestyle and presents Lyric with an ultimatum, she is forced to decide how knee-deep in love and the lifestyle she is willing to be. While Lyric contemplates allowing her heart to make her decision instead of her mind, Tricey’s anger and bitterness drives her to secretly stalk her boyfriend, leading to a revelation of hidden deception and the biggest shock of the Femistry series.
About the Author

Jessica N. Watkins has been an author of fiction literature since the young age of nine. She used writing as an outlet during her freshmen year of high school as a single parent: “In the third grade I entered a short story contest with a fiction tale of an apple tree that refused to grow despite the efforts of the darling main character. My writing evolved from apple trees to my seventh and eighth grade classmates paying me to read novels I wrote about kids our age living the lives our parents wouldn’t dare let us”. At the age of twenty-nine, Watkins’ chronicles have matured into steamy, humorous, and realistic tales of women’s fiction. She hopes that the Femistry series will successfully emulate ideal femininity while tackling stereotypes, familiar heartache, and relatable distress in a humorous and sophisticated fashion.

Book Review: Fear, Faith & Patience

Purchase at Amazon.com
Fear, Faith & Patience

Felecia Killings

4 Stars

When a person is passionate about their purpose in life it is hard for anyone or anything to keep them from achieving it. This is the case in Fear, Faith & Patience by Felecia Killings. It is rare to find a teacher who takes pride in her work and believes in taking a stand for her students. Fear, Faith & Patience introduces readers to one such teacher, Felecia Killings a woman who will go over and beyond for the well-being of her students.
Felecia fought a school system that ignored racial behavior and demeaning acts and disciplined certain students unfairly. Felecia, with the help of God, spoke out to the highest level to fulfill the purpose set out for her. This book provides readers with a glimpse into the struggle one woman takes in order to have all students treated equally.
Fear, Faith & Patience is an eye opening book and a testimony to fighting for what is right. It is about education and making sure no one person is above another. Everyone deserves to receive their education in an environment that is not racial and violent. This book has me looking at school systems in a different manner. I applaud the author for sharing her story and being a spokesperson for students.  I look forward to the next installment in this three book series. I recommend this book to others.

Business of the Week: Mama, I Want to Write!

A&RBC: Who is Mama, I Want to Write!?

Ghostwriter Monique: Mama I Want to Write is a boutique ghostwriting, book content development, editing and writing resource firm. We are, in essence, your personal ghostwriters. You have a story to tell but lack the passion, patience or (most importantly) the time needed for the research and development of that story and this is where Mama I Want to Write comes in. Let us write your story, while you wait.

A&RBC: What services do you provide?

Ghostwriter Monique: We offer ghostwriting, re-writes, editing, "fleshing out" (or book development), query letter-writing, book proposals drafts and in-person and webinar-based seminars. In short, we are your writing one-stop shop!

A&RBC: What sets you apart from your competition?

Ghostwriter Monique: Honestly, I think it's because we at Mama I Want to Write understand the complexities of being an author AND being a ghostwriter/editor/book developer. We've seen and experienced both sides of the coins so we know how to listen to a vision and enhance it without taking away from it. Also, we make the process pain free and fun.
A&RBC: What advice (relative to your area of business) can you give to aspiring authors?
Ghostwriter Monique:  Never think that your story isn't grand/bold/dynamic enough to be told. IT IS! Some of my favorite books are about simple, everyday life; it took courage for those authors to tell those stories. So, if I had one piece of advice it'd be "Don't take your story to the grave, write it!"
A&RBC:  What is your contact and location information?
Ghostwriter Monique: Our website is: www.MamaIWantToWrite.com we are also on Twitter (@MamaIWant2Write) and Facebook (Mama I Want To Write). We are based in the Southeastern region of the U.S. but deal with clients nationwide!
A&RBC: Who is your direct contact representative?
