Q & A with Lady K
How did you become a writer?
I always had a passion for writing.  Mostly, it was to get out a lot of pent up feelings that I had.  I kept a lot of diaries and journals when I was growing up.  So I guess writing kind of came natural.
What are you hoping readers take from your book?
What I hope readers will take from my book is that the street life is not as glamorous as it's made out to be.  I also want people to see how important it is to be good role models for our children so that the things we instill in them, are positive and not detrimental.
If you were to write a book about a controversial topic, what would it be?
If I had to write about a controversial topic, it would be about abortion.
Are you an avid or occasional reader? If so, what is your favorite genre of books?
I consider myself avid reader.  I have to have a book to read.  It's hard to find the time to get lost in a book when you're busy creating your own though so I find myself taking longer than usual with getting through one.  My favorite genre's are urban fiction, suspense, thriller, crime.
If you could interview one of your favorite authors, who would it be? Why?
If I could interview one of my favorite authors it would have to be Keith Lee Johnson.  His writing style is incredible.  I would love to pick his brain.
If you could make a movie out of one of your books, which one would it be?
It would be Heiress to the Throne, my first novel.  It actually started out as a movie idea.  But when I started to write out the scenes and script, it turned into a book.
Which marketing/promotions or publicity strategy has worked best in your favor?
I would have to say social networks have been a lot of help with spreading the word about my book.  Also, I like to get out and talk to people, pass out fliers and network.  Interviews such as this have also been a big help in promoting.
Which do you like better traditional or self-publishing? Why?
I like them both.  I think on which route to go depends on the author.
What new projects are you working on?
I'm currently working on a short story.  It's a thriller that's set to be a part of a anthology that's releasing this Spring.  I'm also working on my third novel which is set for release this Spring also.
