All pimps have their day in Let Me Pimp or Let Me Die by Caujuan Mayo. Ricky Walters is a security officer in San Diego trying to come into his own. While getting his car customized Ricky meets Trust, a well-known pimp. Trust sees that Ricky is interesting in the game so he teaches Ricky everything he needs to know about becoming a pimp.
After his Pimp 101 training course is complete, Ricky decides to put the knowledge into action. After some smooth talking Ricky turns out a young Asian girl named Yuki, who becomes his main girl. Ricky then adds to his new found family and soon becomes Jackpot, the pimp with a master plan. Jackpot is handling his pimp game very well and soon starts attracting trouble. When the competition starts getting wind of his good living enemies come from everywhere. Jackpot soon finds out that running a pimping business is something you cannot take lightly.
Let Me Pimp or Let Me Die is about manipulation. I appreciate the author’s ability to share with readers the full circle of a pimp’s life. This book took me by surprise and kept me interested until the end. The main character is a sales man convincing women to become his property. I enjoyed this book because it was edgy, had drama and expressed the length people will go for money. I recommend this book to those wanting a glimpse of the pimp game.
