FEBRUARY WRITING CONTESTS
WritersMarket.com lists hundreds of writing contests for writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, writing for children, and more. Here are three with February deadlines:
•Artist Trust Fellowship Award is available to writers based in Washington State. There are 16 merit-based fellowships available of $7,500 each. Deadline: February 18.
•The Malahat Review Long Poem Prize is offered in odd-numbered years for a long poem or cycle (10-20 pages). Deadline for submissions is February 1.
•Random House Inc. Creative Writing Competition offers more than 40 scholarships to New York City High School seniors. With awards ranging from $10,000 to $500, writers can enter in one of four categories: poetry/spoken word; fiction/drama; personal essay/memoir; and graphic novel. Deadline: February 8.
