Q & A with Wanda B. Campbell

A&RBC: As an author, have you accomplished everything you set out to accomplish?
Wanda: In seven years I’ve accomplished more than I ever thought possible. When I began writing, I didn’t have an agenda or goals. I just wanted to see if I could do it. Now, I can’t imagine not writing.
A&RBC: What do you love about being a writer? What do you dislike about being a writer?
Wanda: I love creating characters that are relatable. I love writing stories that not only engages the reader, but also makes them evaluate their own life. My desire is to enhance the reader’s life and not simply entertain them.
Not having more time to write is what I dislike about being a writer.
A&RBC: If you could switch lives with a fellow author, who would it be? Why?
Wanda: Not Applicable

A&RBC: If you could make a movie out of one of your books, which one would it be?
Wanda: I think all of my novels would be great on the big screen, but if I must choose one it would be Right Package, Wrong Baggage. The book uncovers issues that are destroying relationships and families. The story challenges us to stop pointing fingers and due a self-evaluation.
A&RBC: Which marketing/promotions or publicity strategy has worked best in your favor?
Wanda: Next to “word of mouth”, Social Media has proven the most effective marketing tool for me. There I connect with readers and readers can connect with me on a personal level. I love talking to readers. I personally answer every e-mail and message. For me it’s important to be approachable to my audience and not just communicate with them when I have a new book for them to purchase. Through Social Media I have met some wonderful people from all over the county and have established a great readership.

A&RBC: Which do you like better traditional or self-publishing? Why?
Wanda: I love the freedom of self-publishing and the ability to manage projects. However, for my novels, I prefer traditional publishing. Traditional publishing frees me to concentrate on writing and mentoring. Also, I have found distribution more effective with traditional publishing.
A&RBC: What new projects are you working on?
Wanda: My eighth novel, Doin’ Me will release May 2013. Currently, I’m working on something for 2014.

A&RBC: Where can readers find you?
