Aruba Dixon, Victoria Faulk and Tawatha Gipson are three women in three different relationships whose worlds collide in Dream Girl Awakened by Stacy Campbell. Aruba Dixon is fed up with her unemployed husband James. She is ready to trade him in and Aruba has just the right candidate.
Tawatha Gipson is ready to settle down and find a father for her four children. Tawatha has not had much luck until she meets James Dixon. James is everything she is looking for in a man and potential husband. Tawatha does not even feel bad that he is married. In her mind once James divorces his wife, he will be all hers.
Victoria Faulk is a shop-a-holic who loves the good life but does not want to put work in to keep it. Victoria has a bad attitude and has no desire to keep her husband happy. It is said that what you won’t do another one will. Will Victoria’s nonchalant ways catch up to her?
Dream Girl Awakened is a great example of the grass not being greener on the other side. It is also about being careful of whom you call friend. This book was a wonderful debut novel full of drama, mischief and backstabbing. It was entertaining, had some suspense and a little mystery to round it off. The characters were well-written and I could relate to them all, especially Aruba even though I would not stoop to her level. The twists and turns were just right and had me continuing to turn the pages. Great job, Stacy Campbell! I cannot wait to read her next book.
